TrulyBudget

Privacy Policy for TrulyBudget

Effective date:

This Privacy Policy explains how TrulyBudget ("the app", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the Android version of TrulyBudget distributed through Google Play.

TrulyBudget is a local-first budgeting app. It is designed to work without creating an account or sending your budget data to a developer-operated server. However, the Android release published to Google Play uses Google AdMob to display ads, and Google or its partners may process certain device and advertising-related data for ad delivery, measurement, fraud prevention, and related purposes.

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or the app, you can contact us at sancheznarro.pablo@gmail.com.

App name TrulyBudget

1. Information Processed by the App

Information you enter into TrulyBudget

TrulyBudget lets you create and manage budgeting information directly on your device. Depending on how you use the app, this may include:

  • month budgets
  • income entries
  • expense entries
  • category names and category emoji
  • notes you type for expenses or income
  • debt carry-forward information between months
  • selected currency and theme preferences
  • dismissed in-app tip state

This information may include financial information that you choose to enter, such as income amounts, expense amounts, budget allocations, and notes.

Exported files you choose to create

The app allows you to create exports and backups, including:

  • PDF exports
  • JPG exports
  • XLSX exports
  • ZIP backups containing the raw app data in JSON format

These files are created only when you ask the app to create them.

Support communications

If you contact us by email, we will receive the information you include in your message, such as your email address and the contents of your email.

2. How TrulyBudget Stores Your Data

TrulyBudget is a local-first app.

Your budgeting data is stored locally on your device in the app's private storage area. We do not require user accounts, and we do not provide cloud sync or a developer-operated backend for storing your budget data.

In practical terms:

  • your budget data stays on your device unless you choose to export or share it
  • the developer does not automatically receive your budgets, income entries, expenses, or notes
  • the app does not connect to your bank account or import bank data

3. Ads and Third-Party Services

The Android release of TrulyBudget published to Google Play uses Google AdMob to display ads.

When AdMob is enabled, Google and its partners may collect or receive certain information from your device or app activity in order to:

  • provide and display ads
  • personalize ads where allowed
  • measure ad performance
  • prevent fraud and abuse
  • comply with legal and policy requirements

This information may include items such as:

  • advertising identifiers, including the Android Advertising ID
  • device and app identifiers
  • IP address
  • approximate location derived from IP address or device signals
  • app interactions related to ads
  • diagnostic information

TrulyBudget also uses Google's consent tools where required. Depending on your region, you may be shown a consent message and, when applicable, a "Privacy choices" option inside the app so you can review or update certain ad privacy choices.

Google's handling of data is governed by Google's own policies. You can review them here:

4. Permissions and Network Use

The Android app declares the INTERNET permission.

This is used primarily to:

  • request and display ads from AdMob
  • load consent and privacy messaging from Google's systems when required
  • support basic external link handling initiated by the user

TrulyBudget does not request permissions for contacts, camera, microphone, or precise location for its core budgeting features.

5. How We Use Information

We use information processed by the app to:

  • provide the budgeting features you choose to use
  • save your budget data locally on your device
  • generate exports and backups when you request them
  • display ads through AdMob in the Google Play release
  • respond to support or feedback emails you send
  • maintain, improve, and secure the app

6. When Information Is Shared

We do not sell your personal information.

We do not automatically send your budget entries, notes, or backup files to the developer.

Information may be shared in the following situations:

  • With Google AdMob and related Google services: device and advertising-related data may be processed as described above for ads, consent, fraud prevention, and measurement.
  • When you choose to export or share files: if you create a PDF, JPG, XLSX, or ZIP backup and then share it using another app or service, that file will be handled by the destination you choose, and its privacy practices will apply.
  • When you contact us: your email provider and ours will process your message as part of delivering email.
  • If required by law: we may disclose information if we are legally required to do so.

7. Data Retention

Because TrulyBudget stores budget data locally on your device, that data is generally retained until you delete it.

You can remove your local app data by:

  • using the app's reset feature
  • clearing app data through your device settings
  • uninstalling the app

Exported files and backups you create may remain:

  • in the app's local exports folder until you delete them
  • in any third-party app, cloud storage service, or destination you choose when sharing or saving them outside the app

Data processed by Google AdMob or other Google services is retained according to Google's own policies and practices.

8. Security

We take reasonable steps within the app design to reduce unnecessary data sharing. For example, budgeting data is stored locally rather than on a developer-operated server.

However, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure. You are responsible for helping protect access to your device and for reviewing where you choose to export or share your files.

9. Children's Privacy

TrulyBudget is a budgeting app intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13.

We do not knowingly design the app to collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through direct contact with us, please email sancheznarro.pablo@gmail.com and we will review the request.

If you plan to make TrulyBudget specifically available to children under 13, this Privacy Policy and the app's ads setup may need additional changes to comply with Google Play Families and child-directed advertising requirements.

10. International Processing

If you use TrulyBudget, third-party services such as Google AdMob may process information on servers located in countries other than your own. Those third parties handle such processing under their own terms, safeguards, and privacy policies.

11. Your Choices

Depending on how you use the app and where you are located, you may have the following choices:

  • You can choose what budgeting information to enter into the app.
  • You can delete or reset your local data from within the app.
  • You can uninstall the app at any time.
  • You can choose whether to export or share your data.
  • You can review available ad/privacy options shown in the app when required.
  • You can manage advertising preferences through your device settings and Google's ad settings tools.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the app, legal requirements, or third-party services.

When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after an updated Privacy Policy is posted means the updated policy will apply going forward.
